Haydarābād (Telugu language: హైదరాబాదు Urdu language: حیدر آباد and in Hindi language: हैदराबाद) is the capital city of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.
Charminar (left) is a monument located in the City of Hyderabad. The Charminar (Urdu: “Four Minars”) monument was built in the center of Hyderabad by Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah in 1591 as a commemoration of the eradication of a plague.
This is quite an interesting monument that is located in a very busy shopping area. There is the constant crush of people, cars, smog and more people all pushing here. Each of the four columns are about 50m in height and there is a mosque located on the top area.
Cost to visit the mosque is R12 (US$0.20) but you have to leave valuables at the base of the column which is not good to do if you are alone!
