SHOW NOTES - episode 046: Show from Washington DC, USA
Quick show from Washington DC. How to get arrested at the White House and a sound scene tour from the Ellipse at 15th and E streets N.W. Washington, DC 20319.
The Ellipse was initially intended by city planner Pierre L’Enfant as the White House’s back yard but this idea was rejected by Thomas Jefferson. It is primarily distinguished by its shape, which is oval — elliptical, in fact. The Ellipse offers a good view of the surrounding area: The Washington Monument and the Jefferson Memorial are to the south, the rear of the White House and its south lawn are to the north. Victor Hugo said in ‘Les Miserables’, “Mankind is not a circle with a single center but an ellipse with two focal points, of which facts are one and ideas the other.”
