050 - Singapore
SHOW NOTES - episode 050: Singapore
This is it. The great 50th show for PodAsia is here. We’ve done it and thank you listeners for being with us on the beginning of this new journey!

Adam Curry played, on his fabulously popular Daily Source Code show (download here) the PodAsia 60 second promotion piece - you can download here! - and this was also broadcast on the Sirius Satellite network across the USA and Canada. Many thanks Adam!

In Singapore on August 9, 2006 the Nation celebrated its 41st birthday. Each year, there is a National Day Parade and this year the theme was “Our Global City, Our Home”. This theme portrays Singapore as a vibrant cosmopolitan city and an international hub that is plugged into the global community. At the same time, Singapore today is a city, which offers numerous opportunities and many different paths to success.
The logo for the 2006 NDP uses multi-coloured brushstrokes to demonstrate Singapore as a vibrant nation. The merging of the different colours into one icon connotes Singaporean unity and harmony as a multi-racial and multi-religious society.

PodStation configuration and design
We review our past 50 podcasts! From our first Podcast in Manila, Philippines in July 2005 where we recorded the podcast on an XDA PDA device to our Christmas Show 2005 and a more recent March 2006 podcast from China, we see how we’ve done it, invested in the technology and now give our listeners a continual and value-added entertaining and informative travel podcast.
Bring on the next 50!
To produce our high quality podcasts, we have mobile field kits and a studio “PodStation” designed and developed by Matthew Holden.
Each station includes a Mackie mixer, Stereo Valve processor, Aural big bottom exciter (to keep that bass sound) and headphone distribution system.
Because we record all our podcasts at DVD quality levels the microphones picked up pencils writing on paper, so Matthew incorporated his Motion Computing Tablet PC into the production process - the result? No noise plus digital computing power at his fingertips.
We also use Shure and Rode studio broadcast microphones. Matthew likes to stand at his console when he records so the PodStation featured shows his “stand up” configuration and also includes the Hi8 and HDV video camera inputs.
This almost completes the PodStation. The only element missing is a Telos One digital hybrid which is a telephone recording input device to the mixer console - that’s next on the list!

Texan Chrissy Flatt is an up and comer. Pleased to have her for our 50th show! Chrissy Flatt - 2002 Wings of a butterfly. Described by Rolling Stones writer Richard Skanse as “simply put, the best debut by an unknown singer-songwriter [he’d] ever heard”. Her second album in 2004 Walk with Kings.
All available at CD BABY click HERE or her website Chrissy Flatt.
