Baby is growing, so I stay in Singapore to look after my wife, the good Dr J who is not feeling too well this week.

This week we visit Boat Quay and Clarke Quay in Singapore. If you are a traveller, this is one place you want to visit when you are here in Singapore.

Boat quay was the hothouse for trading back in the 1800’s when Sir Stamford Raffles signed the agreement securing the auspicious title of “free port” for Singapore. It instantly opened up Singapore as the place for the locals to be to secure their fortunes.
Boat Quay is now a mix of high end restaurants and alfresco dining with lively bars and pubs, It’s one of the favourite place to “chill out” for most professionals and expatriates.
About 1km, further up the river is Clarke Quay.
Named after Sir Andrew Clarke, Singapore’s second governor, Clarke Quay had been the commercial centre, where an unending stream of lighters would transport their goods upriver to the warehouses.
Clarke Quay today has five restored warehouses from the 1800’s and now house bars, restaurants, shopping are and store vendors.
